Designed with both precision and modularity in mind, the MRAD is equally at home on the range or on duty. Its monolithic upper receiver is machined from 7000-series aluminum, including a full-length M1913 Picatinny top rail with built-in taper for long range precision. The MRAD SMR (Single Mission Rifle) features the same performance as the original MRAD, along with .75 MOA accuracy, but in a simplified package utilizing 90 percent parts commonality. The SMR name indicates that the rifle is set for a single caliber, lacking the interchangeable barrel capability of the original MRAD. Additionally the stock is fixed (non-folding). This leads to a slimmer rifle package that is 2.5 lbs lighter than the original MRAD.
